SURFSIDE BEACH

Let the beach fun begin!! We left our house at 5:45 AM yesterday morning and stopped by to pick up Granny & Papaw.. We were on the road at 6:15 and the girls were pumped up and not about to go right back to sleep. I can't imagine where they get that trait!! We met up with Bubba & Shelli at the Strawberry Plains exit and we drove until we got to Columbia before we stopped for a potty break. Then we stopped at the next rest stop fifteen miles down the road to eat our lunch and let the kids run around and stretch their legs. We stopped at Wal-Mart before we came to the condo because the traffic was really congested. We got to the condo about 4:00 and the kids were instantly begging to go find the pool and check out the ocean. We are staying directly across the street from where we stayed last year. The house we stayed in is for sale along with a lot of other houses down here. You can really tell that there's a lot of people trying to get out from underneath their second house payment!! No one was in the mood to cook, so we walked 8 blocks to a little cafe that is oceanfront to eat dinner. It was not the best meal, but everyone gobbled down their food and then we walked back. We were exhausted from the drive, so we let the kids enjoy playing while we played some cards and then we all crawled into bed at 10:00.. Maggie & Molly slept until 8:10, which is pretty good since Cameron and Meghan woke up at 6:00!! We woke up to a yummy breakfast (thanks to Bubba & Shelli).. We made it to the beach around 10:00 and it didn't take long before Maggie's boogie board was broken and she had a frown on her face.. The good thing was she had already spotted a Hannah Montana board that she wanted, so Dad and I rode up to the Eagles store and got three boards so everyone could have fun in he surf.. Molly refused to get in the water. I hope it was because she was so tired, but this may just be a new phase that we are going to have to work through. I took her out in the water clinging to me and crying to go back to our chairs. She wants NOTHING to do with the ocean. The whole time we were down there she asked to go back and go swimming. We came back for showers and lunch at 1:00 and then Maggie and Molly both laid down for a nap. They are still sleeping as I type!! We will be going to Broadway at the Beach when they wake up and we are going to try to eat at Margaritaville!!
